Elijah technology is a future proof umbrella method of encoding video that maximises the use made of available bandwidth and can incorporate other codecs. Methods of encoding video compete, and the best improvement for the bandwidth is chosen. This could be a low grade improvement to a large area, or a sharp improvement to a small area.

- Frame rate independent - some parts of the image can be updated very frequently and others less so.
- The image improves iteratively, so the image builds up as your eye adjusts to it.
